22nd-23rd October

The Tuawera that engraved our name into the hearts and minds of those who attended. We were surrounded by stoke and had an intimate crew of ocean lovers around us. We arrived at the beach with only a hope there would be waves as we anxiously approached the wall we saw stella wee peelers rolling in to which we nodded our heads and made the call. As the comp arena began to rise so did the temperature with a warm day upon us and some nice waves we got the ball rolling. Day two rolled along and with the call made the day before we slept in to wait for the tide to do its thing. As we got to the beach we were losing layers faster than Magic Mike. With a van load of beautiful Phoenix Organics Juices, we were locked and loaded ready to go. The arena went up again and the hooter began the first heat. With the Nor-West picking up the waves began to crumble under the pressure but our surfers didn’t, showing why they were there in the finals. With live music from Connor and Rosie, the vibe was amazing, but the day concluded and we gathered to hear the results…

The Tuawera Twist

The stage was set and the speakers were towering over our Twisters. Rain on Jupiter a young local Surf Rock band kicked our night off and as people began to flood in the music stepped up. Described by most as if Mötley Crüe and Hendrix had a baby, The Monk Seals are going places. Boy, do they know how to party with people flooding in we were in for a fun night. With Three Boys Brewery sponsoring us the beers were on for cheap and they were going like hot sauce. After the Monk Seals wore out our salty sea dogs Only Clangs and Headland stepped up the pace.
